Because of My Chaplain, I Never Felt Alone
When I relocated from the northeast to the southeast ten years ago, I was introduced to chaplain services for the first time. I began meeting with our workplace’s chaplain for a few minutes each week and and enjoyed casual conversation about family, vacations and the weather. Little did I know, the conversation would one day reach a deeper level.
A little less than a year ago, my life was shattered when my husband was placed on in home Hospice care. Thankfully, my company allowed me to work at home while I cared for him at the end of his life. Anyone who has been a primary care giver knows the hard and lonely road it can be.
Because of my company’s chaplain services, I never felt alone. The chaplain continued his weekly visits– at my home! He provided spiritual support for both my late husband and me– offering prayer and comfort during the last days of my husband’s life. I’m not sure how I would have made it through that difficult time without the support and care from my workplace’s chaplain. I will be forever grateful. -Frances
