CCA Names Larry Griffith as CEO: Takes Helm July 19th, 2017

CCA Chairman and acting CEO Jeff Hilles along with ministry Founder,
Dr. Mark Cress applauds selection of Griffith.

Raleigh, NC – Corporate Chaplains of America, Inc. (CCA) announced today that its Board of Directors has named Larry Griffith as the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member, effective July 19th, 2017.

After an extensive search with the executive search firm CarterBaldwin, touching more than 1,000 prospective candidates, the Board officially selected Mr. Larry Griffith.

Before being named the CEO of the largest full-time chaplaincy ministry in the world, Griffith served as the EVP and Chief Operating Officer of Geneva College ranked #11 of the 600 Christian Colleges currently operating in America. This week, Dr. Calvin Troup, President of Geneva, in his written notice to their board remarked, “We are deeply grateful for his [Griffith’s] years of service to the college…. As he sought the Lord’s leadership, it became clear that the Lord was calling him to this new role.”

Prior to Geneva College, Griffith worked his way up the leadership structure at Alltel. Beginning in 1996, he was targeted by management, moving from VP of Marketing in their Southern Market Area to VP-General Manager of Central South Carolina, to Area President-Southwest Operations, to Senior VP- National Operations Support. His last role with Alltel was as Area President-South Operations responsible for 1,300 employees, 2.6 million customers and the generation of $1.5 billion in annual revenue. Throughout his tenure at both Geneva and Alltel, what has played the most significant role in his life has been Griffith’s relationship with God and the importance of his Christian testimony in the workplace.

“For more than three decades in the workplace, I have cared for individuals entrusted to me by God in their times of desperation, when they needed to hear the message of hope,” Griffith said of his personal ministry. “Over 20 years ago, God called Mark Cress to address this need in organizations throughout the country by placing His dream in Mark’s heart. With steps of faith, dedication, and God’s blessing, Corporate Chaplains of America is today the nation’s leading provider of full-time chaplain services for companies and their employees.  I am humbled for the opportunity to put my shoulder to the plow with such a group of caring, committed men and women, building loving relationships one employee at a time, and hoping to gain permission to share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ in a non-threatening manner. I am passionate about this mission and excited to be part of the next chapter of God’s work at Corporate Chaplains of America.”

A native of Western Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, Griffith grew up with a strong work ethic and, in his teenage years, turned his life over to Christ. Unlike many teens, he never looked back in his Christian walk, applying only to one college, Geneva, where he was voted President of both his Senior and Junior Class. After graduating, Griffith earned his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy where he was asked by the commanding officer of his second ship to serve as a Chaplain. Later in life, he earned his MBA from West Virginia University, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Griffith and his wife, Kim, have four children: two daughters ages 19 and 12, and two sons ages 16 and 10. He is a self-confessed pro-sports addict, loves watching his oldest son play soccer, and is an avid walker.

As Hilles and Cress step back into their roles of Board Chairman and Founder, there is a strong sense of peace mixed with excitement at what God has in store for Corporate Chaplains of America under the firm yet humble hand of Griffith.

The mission statement of CCA is to “build caring relationships with the hope of gaining permission to share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ in a non-threatening manner.”

“Griffith is committed to the ministry and the mission of bringing Christ into the workplace, by permission,” stated Dr. Cress.

“I have seen the hand of God working though this entire process and cannot wait to see what the Lord holds for us as we move into the future under Larry’s leadership,” stated Mr. Hilles.

  3. Hello Larry: Greetings in the name of our Savior and LORD, Christ Jesus! I just now prayed for God to grant you wisdom and strength as you begin this amazing journey. May he bless you and your family during this time of transition plus offer patience to those in your charge as they await the leading God places on your heart for them. My chaplaincy tenure with CCA was brief, however long enough to know there are many dedicated servants; men and women who are committed to the ministry of the hurting in the name of Christ.

Speaking on behalf of Community Chaplains’ Outreach, please let me know if there is anything my team or I can do to aid in your transition. We are cheering you on!

    Blessings!
