CCA Awards “10:27” Scholarship

Zach Stout

Wake Forest, NC – Corporate Chaplains of America (CCA) has announced that West Middlesex, Pennsylvania’s Zachary Stout has been awarded the workplace chaplaincy organization’s biannual “10:27” Scholarship.

After a summer missions trip to Brazil, Stout plans to attend Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH in September 2016 for majors in both electrical engineering and theology. He is the son of Michael Stout who serves as a CCA Chaplain Manager in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In announcing Stout’s award – a grant of $2,500 — CCA’s CEO, Preston Parrish, said the organization’s “10:27” Scholarship “is intended to recognize demonstrated commitment to the Biblical truth of Luke 10:27, as well as to assist our chaplains in providing for the cost of their children’s higher education.”

In Luke 10:27, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

“Zachary’s activities and accomplishments – but most important, his commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ – particularly distinguished him for this award. We are delighted to be able to have a part in furthering his education and aspirations.”

Parrish explained that recipients are chosen by a committee, based on their Christian testimony, academic achievement, church and community involvement, extracurricular activities, vocational plans, personal references and an essay.

In his essay, Stout said, “I feel God calling me to become an electrical engineer and use that in the mission field.  I will be attending Cedarville University in the Fall for the study of electrical engineering and theology…to become a ‘tentmaker’…to be a missionary like Paul…I want to build relationships with people in hopes that I may share the gospel with them and show them the love Christ has shown me.”

The “10:27” Scholarship is open for applications by dependent children of full-time CCA chaplain managers and chaplains. Students must be US residents and citizens in their final year of high school or actively enrolled on a full-time basis and in good standing in an accredited community college or 4-year institution.  Scholarships are one-time awards.
