My Chaplain, “God’s Gift”

It was 7 a.m. on an October morning when my husband received a call from his sister. His father had passed away… he was 92.  That same morning my husband had a doctor’s appointment.  As we were driving back home after the CT scan, the doctor called us and told us to drive straight to the hospital.  My husband had liver cancer and cirrhosis.  We both were in total shock.

As soon as we arrived at the ER, I called my office to get in touch with my chaplain Jamin.  He arrived within the hour and didn’t leave my side until my husband was admitted into a room.  He prayed with us and visited the next couple of days.

This was not the end of seeing Jamin!  My husband was in and out of the hospital about 8 or 9 times until he passed away almost 4 months later.  My chaplain was always there for both of us.   During those four months, my husband’s mother also passed away from declining health problems.  Jamin was there to pray with us during our lowest times.    His presence was so welcomed…I always told him he was my angel.  He always went one step beyond to help us.  I had no one else….it was God’s gift that he sent Jamin to us.

A few days before my husband went back in the hospital the last time, we both reconfirmed our faith in God in Jamin’s presence.  I know my husband is in heaven and I will be joining him.  Jamin became a big part of my family.  His wife is a wonderful Christian and understood the late hours Jamin spent with us when life became unbearable.  I’m a better person today because of Jamin.
