Jay and April Strickland
Jay and April Strickland have been at the forefront of technology and human development for over three decades. Jay’s expertise in Web technology spans nearly 30 years, starting from his time at NC State, where he kickstarted his career in the tech industry. After obtaining his B.S. in Computer Science, Jay joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a computer security engineer at the Air Force Information Warfare Center in San Antonio, Texas, before becoming the Chief of Web and Database Systems for the Intelligence Directorate of U.S. Space Command/North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Amidst his successful Air Force career, Jay and April were inspired by a divine vision to establish a company that would empower individuals to navigate and capitalize on emerging technological opportunities. This vision took shape as WingSwept Communications. After attaining the rank of Captain, Jay made the bold decision to leave the military in 2002 and dedicate himself to WingSwept full-time. His entrepreneurial spirit and leadership transformed the company from a two-person venture into a thriving business with over 75 employees and offices in the Triangle area and near Washington, D.C.
April, Jay’s partner in both business and life, plays a crucial role as the Vice President of Human Resources at WingSwept. When she’s not supporting the WingSwept team, she devotes her time to their three daughters and their newest family member, a grandchild. She strives to create a sense of family within the WingSwept team, a mission she has shared with Corporate Chaplains by her side for the past 15 years.
Quick to credit God for their success, Jay and April are a force for good in the community. Their desire to build a better company includes building a better community. They serve and lead several non-profit organizations.
Their actions speak volumes about their dedication to serving others and making a difference in the world. We are honored to welcome Jay and April Strickland into the Avodah Fellowship.
